ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team dropped its final game of the three-game series to the Tigers of East Central University by a score of 5-1, thus losing the series to ECU 2-1.
The game started with Ouachita striking first after forcing a 1-2-3 inning in the top half of the first.
Madyson Shoebottom stayed hot with an RBI single that scored
Katelyn Provence from second to put the Purple Tigers on the on the board 1-0. East Central answered back with a run in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1. Ouachita went down in order in the second and third innings. ECU's offense woke up in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on four hits to take a 4-1 lead over Ouachita.
Maggi Huddleston singled in the bottom of the fourth, but that was all for Ouachita. The Orange Tigers added another run in the fifth to make the score 5-1 in favor of ECU. Ouachita would manage a few more baserunners in the sixth and seventh innings, but could not bring them home and East Central would take game three 5-1 and win the series.
The Tigers will look to bounce back next weekend, as they travel to take on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State in a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 24 in Durant, Oklahoma.
