ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team dropped the final game of the series against the University of Arkansas at Monticello 10-0 Sunday afternoon at Sully Anderson Field.
The series finale started with UAM jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning and the Tigers' bats were unable to get going to answer back. The game was top heavy in terms of scoring, as the Blossoms tacked on seven more runs in the second inning to make it 10-0 in favor of UAM after two innings. This was the last time either team scored in the contest. Ouachita was able to hold the Blossoms scoreless for the final three innings of the contest, but couldn't string together enough hits to get on the scoreboard and fell in five innings by the score of 10-0.
- Kodee Batchelor came in to pitch in the second inning and held Monticello to just one run over the last 3.2 innings of the contest. Batchelor also recorded a hit at the plate, going 1-for-1.
- Jessalyn Ahrens went 2-for-2 on the day.
- Erin Williams and Callie Jourdan both recorded a hit, each going 1-for-2 at the plate.
- Tuesday Melton, the game's starting pitcher, earned the loss in the contest.
The Tigers will look to get back on track in two days as they host the Bulldogs of Union University on Tuesday, March 7 at Sully Anderson Field in a double header starting at 2 p.m.
