ARKADELPHIA – Five student-athletes from the Ouachita Baptist University softball team have been selected to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

The five honorees include Jessalyn Ahrens, Callie Jourdan, Tuesday Melton, Lacy Ornelas, and Hope Waid. Selections are based on academic and athletic performance for student-athletes with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. All five of Ouachita's selections are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in June.

Ahrens is a sophomore from Dewitt, Arkansas majoring in elementary education. Jourdan is a recent graduate from Crystal Beach, Texas with a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. Melton is a sophomore from Benton, Arkansas majoring in biomedical sciences. Ornelas is a recent graduate from Spring, Texas with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a second bachelor's degree in psychology. Waid is a recent graduate from Fort Worth, Texas with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
