G. Allen and
Dustin Bermudez have now been selected to three all-region teams for their performances in the 2023 season.
The pair were recently selected to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Central Region Team. Allen, a junior from Little Rock was selected to the first team as an outfielder. Bermudez, a junior from Chandler, Arizona, was selected to the second team as a utility player.
Allen and Bermudez recently helped lead the Tigers to the team's second consecutive 30-win season and its second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. Ouachita finished the year at 37-19 overall, finishing second in the Great American Conference in the regular season with a new school record 23 conference victories.
Allen led the Tigers in most offensive categories this season, including batting average (.378), slugging percentage (.656), runs scored (60), hits (79), triples (4), homeruns (12), total bases (137), and stolen bases (13). He also led the team in multiple-hit games with 26, including eight games with at least three.
Bermudez started 55 games for the Tigers at shortstop, and also made 20 appearances as a relief pitcher. Offensively, he led the team with 53 RBI and tied Allen and one other Tiger for the team lead in homeruns with 12. He also posted a team-high 24-game hitting streak throughout the season and a 27-game reached base streak. On the mound, he served as Ouachita's closer, racking up three wins and a school-record 10 saves in 20 appearances throughout the season with a strikeouts per nine innings ratio of 10.75 and a walks per nine innings ratio of 1.91.
