ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita softball team dropped the series finale against Southeastern Oklahoma State by the final score of 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Langston Field.
Ouachita got off to a hot start in the Sunday rubber match, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Both runs came off a two RBI single from
Katelyn Provence that scored
Lauren Lester and
Erin Williams to put the Tigers up 2-0.
Southeastern slowly chipped away the lead with single runs in the second and third innings. The Savage Storm took a 3-2 lead with one run in the fourth and added two more runs in the top of the sixth. Both sides went scoreless in the seventh and the Tigers fell by the final score of 5-2 and dropped the series to Southeastern 2-1.
Erin Williams went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored. The Stuttgart, Arkansas native was the only Tiger to record multiple hits in the loss.
Hannah Hunter pitched five innings of solid relief and struck out four but earned the loss.
The Tigers will look to bounce back on Tuesday, March 26 when they host the Bulldogs of Union University in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. in Arkadelphia.
