BETHANY, Oklahoma – The Ouachita softball team dropped its doubleheader to second-place Southern Nazarene University Sunday afternoon on the road.
Game One: Southern Nazarene 13, Ouachita 0
Ouachita got off to a slow start in the first game of the series. Southern Nazarene got out to an early lead after a five-run first inning and added to it with a four-run second inning. Two of the Tigers' three hits came in the fourth on singles from
Lauren Lester and
Remington Adams. The Crimson Storm added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth and the Tigers fell by the final score of 13-0.
Adams, Lester, and
Hope Johnson recorded the three hits for Ouachita in the loss.
Hannah Hunter got the start for the Tigers and earned the loss in the circle.
Game Two: SNU 6, Ouachita 2
The Tigers got off to a better start in the second game of the afternoon, getting on the board in the top of the first.
Remington Adams singled to right and scored Bailey King to put Ouachita up 1-0 early. SNU answered back with two runs in the bottom half of the frame to take its first lead.
Ouachita tied the game back up in the third when
Olivia See came home from second after a bunt attempt from
Erin Williams caused an error on the Storm third baseman. The Tigers held the second-place Storm scoreless for two innings before SNU woke back up for a four-run fifth inning to retake the lead. Ouachita was unable to catch back up and fell by the final score of 6-2.
Bailey King went 2-for-3 with a run scored and was the only Tiger to record multiple hits. Four other Tigers also recorded hits in the loss with Adams recording the lone RBI.
Tuesday Melton started in the circle and pitched 4.2 inning and struck out one but earned the loss.
The Tigers will look to get back on track tomorrow for the final game of the series against the Storm. First pitch is set for noon in Bethany, Oklahoma.
