ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita softball team dropped its series-opening doubleheader to the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University Friday afternoon at Langston Field.
Game One: Southern Arkansas 9, Ouachita 0
In the first game of the afternoon, Ouachita set Southern Arkansas down in order to start the first inning. The Muleriders responded by doing the same to the Tigers in the bottom half of the frame. From there, it was all SAU. The Muleriders plated three runs in the second and six in the third to bring about the final score of 9-0.
Olivia See was the lone Tiger to record a hit in the series opener.
Game Two: Southern Arkansas 11, Ouachita 0
In the second game of the night, both teams were held scoreless through two innings before SAU got on the board with five runs in the third. The Riders added a run in the fifth and five in the top of the sixth inning. The Tigers were kept off the board and fell by the final score of 11-0.
Three Tigers,
Jessalyn Ahrens,
Katelyn Provence, and
Kennedy Wilkie each tallied hits in the loss, with Ahrens hit being a double.
Due to forecasted weather, the Tigers will look to bounce back on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. in the series finale at Langston Field.
