UAM SWEEPS EXTENDED FRIDAY DOUBLE HEADER

ARKADELPHIA – After playing 12 innings in Thursday's series opener, the Ouachita and Arkansas-Monticello baseball teams played 20 more on Friday in what ended up being a double header sweep for the Boll Weevils.

Final score in the first game of Friday's twinbill was 12-8 in favor of the visitors. The series finale, which was the scheduled seven-inning game of the series, needed 11 innings to determine. UAM scored four runs in the top of the 11th with darkness falling on Rab Rodgers Field to end up winning 7-3.

The Tigers reached double digits in the hit column in both of Friday's games with 11 in each contest to mark the 15th and 16th times this season to have at least 10.

Jaren Ceasar led the Tigers in the first game with a 4-for-5, four RBI performance at the plate. Cole Bedwell and Reece McWilliams each had two hits in the game.

In the finale, Ashton Ybarra, Garrett Graham, Octavio Mendivil, and Raygan Yager all tied for the team lead with two hits each.

Chase Oberle had a quality start in a no-decision with just one earned run allowed on six hits in the first six innings with seven strikeouts and just one walk surrendered.

Following the Easter weekend, the Tigers are back at it on Tuesday, April 7 at home for a non-conference game against cross-street rival Henderson State. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
