Monticello, Ark. – The Ouachita softball team took the road series over Arkansas-Monticello, rolling to a 6-0 shutout Friday in the finale.
The Tigers took control in the third inning as junior Olivia See worked a leadoff walk to flip the lineup, then redshirt-senior Remington Adams moved her into scoring position with a single to left field and set the stage to bring their junior slugger to the plate. Emily Reed ripped a 3-run blast to give Ouachita the lead and established a career-high with her team-leading 12th home run this season.
The momentum carried through the order as freshman Alaina Lyle followed up with a solo shot to stretch the lead to 4-0. The Tigers added insurance runs in the seventh after freshman Addison Davidson stepped up with the bases loaded and drove in a run on a fielder's choice. Lyle followed up by reaching on an infield error to put the game out of reach. Ouachita improved to 12-25 overall and 8-13 in Great American Conference play.
In the circle, sophomore Catie Amador pitched a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits. Amador pitched in all three games and kept the Blossoms (12-25, 5-16 GAC) off-balance throughout the series. She compiled 10 strikeouts in three outings, while holding the Blossoms to just three earned runs in 15.1 innings of work.
Ouachita has a week off before resuming its road trip with a series at Southwestern Oklahoma State. The road doubleheader next Friday is set to start at noon.
