Tigers Split First Day of Doubleheader with Harding

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Tigers (19-18, 7-7 GAC) hosted the Bisons of Harding University (20-15, 5-9 GAC) on Friday for a conference doubleheader to kick off Easter weekend. The Tigers took the first game of the afternoon by a score of 5-2, stretching their win streak to four after a series sweep of Arkansas-Monticello, but were unable to stretch it to five games, dropping game two of Friday's action by a score of 7-4.

In the first game of Friday's doubleheader, the Tigers stretched their current win streak to four, taking the game by a final score of 5-2 behind the pitching performance of Ryan Westover. Westover threw 8.1 innings of the game, only giving up two runs and three hits. During his time on the mound, Westover recorded eight strikeouts. Zac Treece came in to relieve Westover in the ninth, collecting the save while giving up two hits. Ouachita's Keegan Ghidotti finished the game with two RBI's in a 1-of-1 performance, also taking two walks on the day. Landon Moore added two RBI's as well, while Parker Norris knocked in the other run for Ouachita. Landon Flax finished the game with two runs scored, getting on once due to a hit and another time due to a walk. Harding's Hayden Shirley took the loss, giving up three runs and two hits in six innings on the mound. He struggled to get things going early, walking five batters and hitting another in the first two innings to give up his three runs.

In the second game of the afternoon, Ouachita wasn't able to close out the doubleheader with another victory, falling by a score of 7-4 due to the five-run fourth inning that Harding posted. Harding's Logan Holthaus took the win after his six innings on the mound in which he gave up three runs and five hits. Davis Ward took the loss for Ouachita, throwing 3.1 innings and giving up six runs and eight hits. Flax, Ghidotti and McCrae Jones all recorded RBI's for the Tigers, while Ghidotti, Brock Green, Moore and Flax all finished the game with runs scored.

The Tigers close out their series with Harding on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
