Tiger Baseball Receives Seven All-GAC Selections

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.- With just 24 hours before the first pitch of the inaugural Great American Conference Championship, the Ouachita Tigers baseball team received the news that seven of their players were honored with All-Great American Conference Selections for their play in the 2012 season. Ouachita had the third highest number of players among teams in the conference, while Southern Arkansas had nine selections and Arkansas Tech had eight. Three of Ouachita's All-GAC Selections were named to the All-GAC Second Team, while the other four were named All-GAC Honorable Mention Selections.

Ryan Westover took second team honors at the starting pitcher position after his performances on the mound in the 2012 season, with battery mate and catcher Tom Ward was also named to the second team. Outfielder Keegan Ghidotti was the Tigers' other second team selection due to his play in the outfield and his performances from the plate.

Ouachita received four Honorable Mention selections, including relief pitcher Zac Treece, who was a force to be reckoned with for the Tigers this season. Brock Green received an Honorable Mention selection due to his play at first base, as well as the performances with his bat during the season. McCrae Jones, who had a breakout season from the designated hitter position, as well as the Tigers' only freshman selection, Parker Norris, rounded out the field of selections for the Tiger baseball team.

Ouachita will play their first game of the tournament on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The No. 5 seeded Tigers will be facing off against the No. 2 seeded Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
