ENID, Okla.- With the Great American Conference Title on the line, the Ouachita Tigers came through again. The Tigers, facing the No. 1 seeded Muleriders of Southern Arkansas, entered the game knowing that a loss would send them home, but they kept their dreams of a fairy tale ending alive, downing the Muleriders by a score of 4-3. The win doesn't clinch the championship though, as Ouachita must defeat Southern Arkansas again to walk away as the GAC Champions due to the double-elimination format.
Ouachita's
Ryan Westover had a superb outing on the mound, throwing well over 100 pitches. He pitched eight innings, only giving up six hits and three runs, while
Zac Treece came in and got the save for the Tigers, throwing an inning and not giving up any hits or runs.
Keegan Ghidotti,
Parker Norris and
Landon Flax all recorded RBI's for the Tigers, while four players finished the game with runs scored.
The Tigers took the lead early and never relented, posting two runs in the first inning.
Doug Shields took the loss for Southern Arkansas, dropping only his second game of the season. He pitched four innings and gave up six hits and three runs.
The Tigers don't have much downtime heading into their next match-up with the regular season champion Muleriders, as the second game of the Championships will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.
