Tigers Leave 10 on Base in Loss to Reddies

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers recorded 10 hits but left 10 runners on base in an 11-3 midweek loss to the Henderson State Reddies on Tuesday.

Henderson State jumped on the board early, scoring six runs in the first two innings off four hits and one error. The Tigers attempted a comeback in the fourth inning when Evan Ruiz singled up the middle to score Will Wallace, who reached base on a single through the right side. Landon Moore immediately followed Ruiz with an RBI-single of his own, scoring Tyler Faught, who scored on a single to left field. The Reddies got out of the jam, however, as the Tigers left the bases loaded.

Two innings later in the bottom of the sixth, Ouachita scored another run to bring the score to 6-3. With Ruiz on second base and Jace Melby on third, Moore put the ball in play and reached on a fielder's choice. Melby was thrown out at home plate, but Ruiz scored on an error when HSU tried to throw out Moore at second base. Henderson recorded two outs in a row after the run, however, ending the inning.

The Tigers were held scoreless in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, while the Reddies scored five more to end the game at 11-3. Zach Gloff earned the start for the Tigers but was handed the loss, giving up four runs, three of them earned. Josh Reeves replaced Gloff and gave up two runs, one of the earned.

Jacob May was on the hill the longest for the Tigers, pitching three innings without giving up a run. Craig Daniell, Drew Feuerbacher and Jon Cunningham also pitched for the Tigers in the loss.

The Tiger's offense was fueled by Ruiz, who batted 3-4 with an RBI and a run. Moore recorded two RBI's, as well, and Wallace went 2-4 with a triple.

The Tigers (16-20) will host Southern Nazarene in a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday, April 4. Friday's game is scheduled for 3 p.m., and Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin 12 p.m.
