Harding Takes Two from Tigers on Senior Day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Harding Bisons on Saturday, despite a late comeback in game one that was cut short.

In game one, Harding's offense exploded early, as the Bisons scored 7 runs in the first three innings. The Tigers responded in the bottom of the third, however, scoring two runs off a Keegan Ghidotti RBI-single and a Chris Tavares RBI-double.

The Bisons added to their 7-2 lead over the next two innings, scoring a run in the fourth and a run in the fifth.  Another RBI-single from Ghidotti gave the Tigers one more run, before Harding added a run in the seventh to take a 10-3 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers attempted a comeback, scoring four runs in the inning. The scoring started with an RBI-double down the left field line by Landon Moore that scored Justin Weigle. Ghidotti then recorded his third and fourth RBI on a single up the middle that scored Parker Norris and Moore. Sean Noland followed with another single to left center that scored Ghidotti, which brought the score to 10-7. With runners on second and third, Harding's Andrew Fiddler came in to pitch and struck out three consecutive batters to end the comeback.

A scoreless eighth and ninth inning ended the game with Harding ahead 10-7. Logan Holthaus earned the win for Harding, and Luis De Jesus was handed the loss. Josh Reeves, Drew Feuerbacher, Austin Watson and Ghidotti also pitched for the Tigers.

Ghidotti led Ouachita's offense, batting 3-5 with two runs and four RBI. Norris recorded three hits, as well, and crossed home plate three times.

Harding's offense carried over to game two, as the Bisons scored four runs in the first inning and five in the third. The Bisons later added one more run in the seventh inning. Collin Campbell held the Tigers scoreless for the entire game, earning the complete-game shutout. Tryce Schalchlin was handed the loss, and Craig Daniell, Jacob May, Kyle Matusoff and Reeves all came in relief for Ouachita.

Ghidotti recorded two hits in game two, ending the doubleheader batting 5-8. Norris also added a hit and was 4-8 on the day.

The Tigers (21-26, 13-14 GAC) are fighting for the final playoff spot, and are one game back of being tied for sixth place in the Great American Conference. Ouachita will travel across the street to Henderson State for the final series of the regular season beginning on April 25.
