Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – In the final game of a three game series the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm came away with a 4-2 victory over the Ouachita Tigers on Monday afternoon.
It was Southern Nazarene's (6-7, 2-4) first series win against Ouachita (4-11, 1-5) since joining the Great American Conference back in 2013.
After a scoreless top of the first inning, the game appeared to be swaying in Ouachita's favor as
Jakahari Howell (Arkadelphia, Ark.) reached second base on a throwing error by the shortstop. Howell advanced to third base after the Crimson Storm had a passed ball.
Tyler Riebock (Rockwall, Texas) grounded out to third base but was able to score Howell from third base to give the Tigers the early advantage. The run also gave Riebock his team leading 14
th RBI of the season.
Tigers pitcher Adam Bahloul (Maumelle, Ark.) was cruising along until the third inning. Bahloul gave up a leadoff walk to Christian Dent. With two outs in the inning it appeared that Bahloul would be able to make it out of the inning without a run. Austin Cooper though decided to change
that with an RBI single to right field.
Bahloul found himself in even more trouble in the top of the fourth inning. With no outs in the inning and the bases loaded, Bahloul induced a double-play ball to the shortstop. The Crimson Storm scored on the double-play and led 2-1.
???????Riebock tied the game up for the Tigers in the bottom of the fifth inning with another RBI groundout to shortstop.
???????Bahloul settled down and found his rhythm again as he threw three scoreless innings before he was relieved mid-way through the eighth inning.
???????Kaden Tollett (DeQueen, Ark.) stood on the mound in the top of the ninth inning looking to keep the game tied at 2. Tollett appeared to be comfortable in the role as he forced to quick groundouts to third base.
Then Tollett appeared to lose his command, he walked a batter and then hit two consecutive batters to load up the bases. Cole Wagner then hit a single up the middle to score two runs for the Crimson Storm.
The ninth inning rally came up just short for the Tigers as
Preston Speers (McKinney, Texas) was left stranded on second base.
Despite going 0-for-3 at the plate Riebock was the top offensive performer with 2-RBI's in the contest. Tollett picked up his first loss of the season after giving up 2 runs on 1 hit.
Ouachita will be back at tomorrow afternoon against Henderson State. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start time at Rab Rodgers field.
