Savage Storm Sweep's Series against Ouachita

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. – The Ouachita Tiger baseball team lost a pair of games to Southeastern Oklahoma State 13-10 and 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first time in four years that Southeastern (14-16, 9-9 GAC) completed a sweep against Ouachita (10-20, 6-12 GAC).

For the first time all season the Ouachita offense belted out four homeruns in a single game, their previous record had been three on a trio of occasions.

Game One: Ouachita 10, Southeastern 13
The first game of the afternoon was a slugfest between the two schools. Combined the teams accounted for 23 runs off 27 hits.

Louis Steen began the game with a solo homerun to left field. The hit kept a 10-game hitting streak alive for the freshman.

In the top of the second inning the Tigers offense struck again, this time it was Aaron Studdard who hit a two-run bomb to left field. Ouachita would not hold on to the 3-0 lead for long though as the Savage Storm surged back into the game.

The Savage Storm scored nine runs off eight hits in the bottom of the second inning. The second inning has been one of the worst statistically for the Tigers all season. Opponents have outscored Ouachita 26-11 in the second inning this season so far.

Facing a 9-3 deficit heading into the top of the fifth inning, Ouachita began to chip away at Southeastern's lead. Cade McBride hit a two-run homerun to left field to bring the Tigers back within four of the Savage Storm.

Trailing 10-5 in the top of the sixth inning, Steen stepped into the batters box with runners on first and second. Steen then hit a no-doubt homerun to left center to pull the Tigers within a pair of runs.

Southeastern answered the homerun with a trio of runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Tigers tacked on runs in the seventh and ninth innings, but could not come away with the victory.

Steen was the offensive player of the game. The freshman not only had his first multi-homerun game of his career, but he also finished the game going 3-for-4 with 4 RBI's.

Game Two: Ouachita 1, Southeastern 8
Outside of a leadoff homerun in the top of the fourth by McBride, there was not a lot of offense for the Tigers in game two.

The Savage Storm pitching staff held the Tigers to just four hits in game two. Meanwhile, Southeastern cranked out eight runs on 11 hits.

Steen's hit streak hit double-digits in game one on Saturday, but he went hitless in game two against the Savage Storm. The 10-game hit streak was the longest by a Tiger batter this season, Austin White and Tyler Riebock each had 9-game hit streaks earlier this year. Riebock now has the longest hit streak on the team at 8-games.

Ouachita will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon against Arkansas Tech. First pitch will be at 2 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
