COUNTDOWN TO FIRST PITCH
Ouachita Baptist baseball hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State in a three-game series at Oklahoma Baptist this weekend. The series begins with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday and concludes with a single game at noon Sunday.
The Tigers took two of three from Arkansas-Monticello at Weevils Field last weekend. Two grand slams by
Louis Steen - including the go-ahead blast in the six-run ninth inning - gave Ouachita an 11-9 comeback victory on Friday's series opener. After the Weevils won the second game, Steen's fourth home run of the week backed
Cooper Timmons' strong start in a 5-3 series finale victory.
TIGER STORYLINES
- Steen and Timmons earned Great American Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively, for their performances last week. Steen hit four homers and drove in 13 runs, while Timmons went 2-0 with a save and a 0.81 earned run average across 11 innings in three appearances.
- Steen leads the Tigers in home runs (5), runs batted in (25) and slugging percentage (.512).
- Tyler Riebock is second in program history with 28 career home runs and leads the team with a .417 on--base percentage and a .948 OPS.
- Sophomore Cade Burris has started games at five different positions (left field, right field, first base, second base and catcher) and in four different spots in the lineup (leadoff, second, third and fifth).
- Timmons has struck out 38 batters in 35.0 innings on the year. His 15 appearances are most in the Great American Conference
- Riebock leads the Great American Conference with 28 walks.
- The Tigers have picked off a league-high eight runners this season. Luke Scaggs has accounted for four of those pickoffs.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
- The Savage Storm has lost eight of its last 10 games entering the weekend, with both of those wins coming in a series win over Southwestern Oklahoma State last weekend.
- SEOSU has allowed seven or more runs in eight of its last 10 games.
- Southeastern is second in the GAC with 38 home runs on the season
- Seth Morrow is second in the conference with a .424 batting average and a .504 OBP and tied for first in slugging at .848 His nine home runs are tied for second in the conference and his 40 RBIs are tops in the league.
- Infielder Richard Ware has handled 100 chances without an error this season, the second-highest total in the conference.
