Scoring Plays
The Ouachita Tigers started the game off with a bang, literally.
Tyler Riebock hit his fourth home run of the season to lead off the game. Next up,
CW Schrader doubled to right-center and trotted home on back-to-back pass balls for the 2-0 lead.
Ecclesia would answer back in the bottom of the first inning with a run of its own. After a leadoff double and a stolen base, the two-hole hitter hit an RBI single for the Royals lone run in the inning.
The Tigers would add a second run in the second inning to lengthen the lead 3-1.
Cole Kelly earned his first hit as a Ouachita Tiger in a huge way as he belted a solo home run over the right-center wall to lead off the inning.
Ouachita added three more runs in the fourth inning on two hits and an error.
Simmons Sowell earned a walk to begin the inning, before he was moved to second on a
Chris Willard single to left field. A batter later,
Tyler Riebock hit a two-run double down the first base line and advanced to third on a mishandled error by the second baseman. Schrader would put the Tigers up 6-1 on a sacrifice fly to deep right field that scored Riebock for the final run in the fourth.
The Royals would get their second and final run in the game in the bottom half of the fourth inning. After a walk and two singles, Ecclesia had the bases loaded with no outs. The next batter got a squeeze bunt down and Riebock bobbled it trying to get the out at home. Down 6-2, Ecclesia had the tying run at the plate, but strong defense got the Tigers out of the rest of the inning unscathed. A fly out to Willard at third base and a ground-ball double-play turned by Willard kept the Tigers with the four-run lead.
Louis Steen hit a single to right field that started the fifth inning, before safely sliding into second on a fielder's choice attempt from a ground ball to second base off the bat of
Cole Kelly.
Cade Burris received his first collegiate hit as the next batter on a bunt down the third base line that he beat out. With the bases loaded, Sowell hit an RBI single to center field that increased the lead 7-2. However, the Tigers were unable to score anyone else in the inning, despite having no outs and runners on every base.
Pierce Mitchum helped add a single run in the sixth on a one-out double, before he stole third base and scored on an errant throw from the catcher trying to get him out at third.
With the score 8-2, the Tigers would put up another solo run in the seventh inning. Willard walked and stole both second and third base to put himself ninety feet away from home plate. Schrader picked up his second RBI of the game on a single up the middle, before a fielder's choice and caught stealing ended the Tigers chance at another run.
Ouachita would put up its final two runs of the game in the top of the ninth inning to close out the scoring for an 11-2 victory.
Cade McBride hit a one-out double to right-center before he was moved to third base on a
Blake Tubbs single over the first baseman's head.
Beau Burson would then score McBride on an RBI single between first and second, before Tubbs and Burson moved to second and third respectively on a passed ball. Mitchum would score Tubbs for the final run of the game on a missile line drive to center field for a sacrifice fly.
