Bubba Cope was one the best hitters in the history of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference and was a significant contributor to Ouachita's stretch of six straight baseball conference championships from 1967-72.

Cope was a three-time All-AIC honoree, twice selected to the first team. He was the AIC's leading hitter in 1972 with a .438 batting average. He was second in the league in 1970 at .416 and fourth in 1971 at .396. He was twice selected to the NAIA All-America team (1971 and 1972).
