David Easley was a standout defensive lineman for the Tigers from 1968-71 and went on to have a successful coaching career that included three conference championships and a high school district title.

The Texarkana native was a key factor in Ouachita's success in the late 60s and early 70s. The Tigers had three winning seasons during Easley's playing career, highlighted by the 1970 Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference championship. As a senior in 1971, Easley earned All-AIC First Team honors and was also selected to the NAIA Honorable Mention All-America team.

Following his playing career, Easley began a coaching career that included stops at Arkansas-Monticello, Central Arkansas, Ouachita, Texas High School in Texarkana, and finally at Arkansas Tech.

As defensive coordinator at UCA under head coach Ken Stephens, Easley and the Bears won AIC championships in 1976 and 1978. The 1976 team finished as the NAIA national runner-up. The 1978 team finished fifth in the nation.

Easley came back to Ouachita as defensive coordinator for the 1979 and 1980 seasons before becoming head coach and athletic director at Texas High School in his hometown of Texarkana. He led his team to a district championship in 1984 and was voted East Texas coach of the year. He then finished his coaching career as defensive coordinator at Arkansas Tech in 1987 and 1988.

Following his football career, Easley worked for 22 years as an agency field specialist with State Farm Insurance.
