John Furqueron, from Fouke, Arkansas, was a three-sport star at Ouachita in basketball, baseball, and track in the 1940s.

He was the 1948 recipient of the Neil Martin Trophy given each year by the Arkansas Amateur Athletic Association to their choice of the most Outstanding Amateur Athlete in the State of Arkansas. He was a four-time All-State honoree in basketball and led the Tigers to four AAU championships. He was also a two-time All-State shortstop in baseball in 1947 and 1948.

He served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II, and then worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. He retired in Arkadelphia and passed away in 2014.
